Peter Darker: Happy New Year 2019!
Can’t believe it’s been one full year since our last “New Year’s” blog post. We’re curious to know, how did your New Year’s resolutions for 2018 go? And what are some new resolutions you have for 2019?
Let’s first take a look back at Peter Darker's Top 10 New Year's Resolutions of 2018:
10. GO ON MORE DATES
9. NEW HOBBY / LEARN SOMETHING NEW
8. READ MORE BOOKS
7. CUT DOWN THE ALCOHOL / QUIT CIGARETTES
6. MORE FAMILY TIME
5. PURSUE PASSION
4. SAVE MORE MONEY
3. IMPROVE DIET / EAT BETTER
2. EXERCISE MORE
1. LOSE WEIGHT
So, any of these make your resolutions list for this year or last year? How’d you do? How are you doing? We’re not even a week into the New Year, but I’m sure some of us are already stumbling. And that’s ok.
Let’s take a look at some other resolutions to consider for the New Year:
10. FIND A NEW JOB
C’mon, we both know you’re unhappy with what you’re currently doing. No more. Time to put your foot down and make the leap! Your situation is not going to fix itself. Get out of your miserable situation and start looking for your next opportunity TODAY.
9. FOCUS ON SELF-CARE
A lot of the time, we focus so much on our careers and relationships, we forget that we ourselves need just as much care and maintenance. Take some time to focus on yourself - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It’s ok to put yourself first before you try and take care of someone else.
8. GET MORE SLEEP
Between TV binge-watching, video games, partying and studying just to name a few, most of us stay up way later than we should. Give your body the 8 hours nights rest it deserves. Go to bed early, wake up early and energized.
7. MAKE NEW FRIENDS
We all have our “Day 1’s”, but it’s great to continue to mix and mingle. Network and create new relationships. This leads to new opportunities. And don’t worry about losing your friends you already have in the process. If they’re your real friends, they aren’t going anywhere and will tag along in your new endeavors.
6. BOOK ALL OF YOUR DOCTOR’S VISITS
Every year it seems like the annual physical or dentist visit gets put off for so long that it inevitably doesn’t even happen. Take some time to plan out all of your check-ups for the year. Stay on top of yourself and continue to make sure you’re in the best health possible.
5. PLAN A VACATION
Even if you’re living in sunny Southern California, now’s a great time to plan at least one vacation for the New Year. Get out. Switch it up. Get away from it all and unwind. Time away can reset and refocus the brain. A lot of us spend so much time in the same routine, it can be damaging. Time to finally take that trip you’ve been thinking about for years now.
4. MEDITATE
Some call it meditation, some call it praying. Whatever you call it, this is the year you should tap into your inner and higher self. Start aligning yourself with your deepest thoughts and begin prioritizing the things that matter the most to you.
3. JOURNAL/DIARY
Jot down daily notes, thoughts, feelings. The older future version of you will thank you. It’s an opportunity to watch your own progression over time. An easy way to learn from your own mistakes and reminisce on events in your life that have made you the person that you are today.
2. DONATE OLD CLOTHES
It’s okay. You can let go now. You can finally move on from those clothes that have been sitting in your closet for years now - untouched. We know, we know, maybe just MAYBE you might want to wear that old shirt from Coachella 2014. But your old clothes can really benefit someone else in need. Bag ‘em up, take them to the GoodWill or Salvation Army. If you’re looking for a great place to donate your old mattress even, you can try here: https://www.tipsbulletin.com/donate-a-mattress/. Go for it, you’ll feel better.
1. VOLUNTEER
There’s nothing better in this world you can do. Service should be all of our number one priorities entering 2019.
